the cultural production of health

I completed this project as part of my Master of Fine Arts degree at East Carolina University in 2002. At the time this project was essentially a lifetime in the making, but physically speaking took me an exhausting year to produce. Motivated by personal experience, with a desire to speak to real issues concerning “health” and “illness” I spelled the Hippocratic Oath out of handmade 4 inch ceramic blocks. Each block is unique, representing a specific pharmaceutical “drug” and the condition it treats.
